through a camera lens...

Imagine life without the ability to photograph every moment, and every memory to share with others... we each keep our own "photographs" in our minds, but it's those captured with a camera, which can truly help others "capture" each photograph and make it their own.

Last week I photographed my parents wedding bands, mostly to practice the art of photography; but also in part to help recapture this commitment of everlasting love.

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek on my photos.  I will post some more soon. Let me know what you think! :)

an eclectic assortment...

I am so excited to introduce to you some new flowers that I have created over the past week! The making of each one was inspired by the greatest artist of all times...God. Who other than He could create such intricacies? Okay, so let me get on with the introduction process! drum roll please...

Staging themselves above are three daisies 'dressed' in lapis purple. They will ultimately spice up a bouquet with their edgy "attitude."

Roses are the epitome of elegance.  These yellow roses define beauty and sophistication.
They are sure to subtly express themselves in any bouquet.

Here we see a lapis calla lily staging a duo with a little green mum. This funky pair is notorious for their unique appearance.

Clothed in white - "she"represents purity.  "She" shall grace the other flowers with her simplistic beauty.

define mum: silent- mother-madame (unleash that British accent in you!)
"mummy, please may I have some ice cream?"

my little gidgets :)
Where silliness is barren -these small gidgets will fill all those empty spaces.

and more calla lily.

Well, there you have it - flowers with their own eclectic personalities.  Who knew??
So, what do you think?
Can you imagine them grouped together in a bouquet arrangement?
Stop by in a couple of days to see the results :)

another year older...

My grandparents just celebrated their 88th and 89th birthday - as well as their 65th anniversary!   They never cease to make me smile and laugh- love them! :)  To celebrate these significant stepping stones my cousin and I did something special...  At my cousin's wedding she had an Italian ribbon cake with bavarian cream filling made to celebrate their Italian and German heritage :)  Their smiling faces were priceless.
A week after the wedding I had a cake design project due for a decorating class.  My mom suggested that I design a cake that my grandpa would absolutely love.  So, i took an afternoon to bake and design a Yankees cake for his 89th birthday, which was the same day my project was due! :)  After many hours of detailed work - the cake was finished! :)

A chocolate fudge cake with chocolate pudding inside.  Seen is a grass mound, baseball, Yankees #89 jersey, and a Yankees baseball cap.  The cake was delicious and I had a very happy grampa! :)

In addition to the cake, I did something special for my gramma's birthday.  I made her four banana cake muffins. (using her recipe)

:) I enjoyed designing these fun and yummy creations for two wonderful people!  I hope you enjoyed them too :)

tying the knot...

A wedding is such a joyful event. Beauty- excitement- commitment- enduring love- and pure bliss are some words I would use to describe this big day.  My cousin was recently wed on a beautiful saturday afternoon.  Looking back upon how much detail went into making this day perfect for her was at times a hassle. In the end, everything paid off.  She was a radiant bride walking down the aisle, and I was honored to stand up for her as a bridesmaid.  As a gift for her, the bridesmaids/ maid of honor, and flower girl, I created something very special that they could keep as a rememberance.  I designed three different bouquets.
12 white paper roses for the bride
completely made by hand.

3 funky lavender roses
for bridesmaids/ maid of honor

5 roses with 10 calla lilies
for the flower girl

The girls loved them! Success! My desire was to design something they could keep, rather than throw away.  I completed my mission. :)
